I'm a Junior SysAdmin taking the reigns for a small organization.

About 3 months in, CISO asks me to hunt down old installs of CISCO Endpoint Harmony on clients throughout our domain, since we moved to a different provider a year ago and the guy I replaced didn't get it done.

Now, we have approx. 100-ish stations, and while I COULD remote into each one and go over add/remove programs, I think that would be a very inefficient thing to do.

Anyone know either an AD tool or 3rd party tool to locate this kind of program?

  • You have a CISO but no Configuration Management solution for deploying and removing applications?

  • I say CISO, but he's mostly DevOps and given that it's a small company (more SMB-SOHO than ENT) we mostly deal with HelpDesk-level issues, while outsourcing big projects. I also wanted to tackle this myself, to gain the experience. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out a solution and wanted to ask the internet before turning to our outsource.

  • How to manage application deployment/removals is too broad, but suffice it to say that most organizations of a certain size of endpoints needs and has a Configuration Management solution for endpoint management for this. SCCM, Bigfix, Tanium, many other excellent products. Off topic though.

Tools like PDQ Inventory, Lansweeper, or ManageEngine have features to remotely check and manage installed software on networked computers

  • Thank you for your reply! We use NetSupport, and I did notice it has access to the installed programs - however it still requires going from station to station and manually checking. I was aiming for a more automated solution that's less involved. I apologize if I was unclear, it was not my intention to mislead or omit information.

Big thanks to @AmirD12 and @Greg Askew for their assistance.

Given my current situation and available options, the answer to my question is to simply go through things manually.
